Reflection on the series of Album covers

My reflections on the 'series' of albums for 'addicted 2 hardcore' follow a well remembered series and are very eye catching. The bright neon colours such as pinks and greens are the codes and conventions I found whilst doing textual analysis on album covers for Hardcore/dance.  The title(Addicted2 Hardcore) is receptive and featured in all the series. The iconic image of a female in a dance pose is similar through out the series of the albums. They also feature the top DJs and Artiste on the front cover to help give popularity to the album as well as targeting its genre consumer taste.

Codes and Conventions
  • Character:Female positioned on the front cover in a medium long shot/medium close-up
  • Facial gesture: seductive, happy, powerful
  • Body language: flirty, dance pose to reflect that particular music genre
  • Costume: bright(neon pinks and blues), reveling, tight and fashionable
  • Framing:tight medium long shot/medium close-up
  • Lighting: high key, flattering on the model. Neon lights to represent the stock setting of the codes and conventions of 'hardcore/dance'
Its clear to say that a lot of my designs and  ideas have changed through out the process of planning and creating the Cd covers for the group. Slight changes such as re-moving titles and changing the font colours have made a hugh change towards the Final piece.
